This caused models shipped with some contrib apps to pollute the namespace when user's apps had the same name (e.g. auth, sites), even when these contrib apps weren't installed.
This undesired loading of contrib apps happened when model validation was executed, for example when running management commands that set or inherit `requires_model_validation=True`:
cleanup, dumpdata, flush, loaddata, reset, runfcgi, sql, sqlall, sqlclear, sqlcustom, sqlflush, sqlindexes, sqlinitialdata, sqlreset, sqlsequencereset, syncdb, createsuperusers, ping_google, collectstatic, findstatic.
This could also cause hard to diagnose problems e.g. when performing reverse URL resolving.

The tests were relying on being able to do
ManyToManyField("NameOfThisModel") instead of the only documented method for
recursive relationships, namely ManyToManyField("self"). The former stopped
working when the fix in r12908 was applied.

* Removed a special-casing of `models.DateTimeField` in `core.serializers.base.Serializer.get_string_value` that's handled by `django.db.models.fields.DateTimeField.value_to_string`.
* Removed `django.core.validators`:
* Moved `ValidationError` exception to `django.core.exceptions`.
* For the couple places that were using validators, brought over the necessary code to maintain the same functionality.
* Introduced a SlugField form field for validation and to compliment the SlugField model field (refs #8040).
* Removed an oldforms-style model creation hack (refs #2160).

presence (and incorrectness) of unique=True on ManyToManyFields. This has never
worked and generates invalid SQL. Now it's raised as an explicit error during
validation. Thanks to clamothe for the patch.
Still needs a docs change to make this clear, but that goes to the docs
refactor branch.

refactored. The newforms module has several improvements including FormSets
and Media definitions.

to return Decimal instances in Python for this field. Backwards incompatible
change.
Added a real FloatField (stores floats in the database) and support for
FloatField and DecimalField in newforms (analogous to IntegerField).
Included decimal.py module (as django.utils._decimal) from Python 2.4. This is
license compatible with Django and included for Python 2.3 compatibility only.
