Corrected change in behavior regarding the page shown after the 'Save' button is pressed when adding a user through the admin.

It had been introduced in trunk (r13503) and between 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 (r13504). The original fix intended to correct a similar problem introduced between 1.1 and 1.2 (r12218) this time in the 'Save and add another' button.
We have now tests for the three buttons present in the Add User admin form to avoid future regressions.

Fixed #14693 , #14709 -- Backwards incompatible change to rectify the confusion around the STATICFILES_URL and STATICFILES_ROOT settings.

* Two new global settings that will be used by -- **but are not limited to** -- the staticfiles app: STATIC_ROOT and STATIC_URL.
* Moving the 'django.contrib.staticfiles.templatetags.staticfiles' template tag to the core ('django.templatetags.static') and renaming it to 'get_static_prefix'.
* Moving the context processor 'django.contrib.staticfiles.context_processors.staticfiles' to the core ('django.core.context_processors.static') and renaming it to 'static'.
* Paths in media definitions will use STATIC_URL as the prefix if the value is not None, and falls back to the previously used MEDIA_URL.

Fixed #14445 - Use HMAC and constant-time comparison functions where needed.

All adhoc MAC applications have been updated to use HMAC, using SHA1 to
generate unique keys for each application based on the SECRET_KEY, which is
common practice for this situation. In all cases, backwards compatibility
with existing hashes has been maintained, aiming to phase this out as per
the normal deprecation process. In this way, under most normal
circumstances the old hashes will have expired (e.g. by session expiration
etc.) before they become invalid.
In the case of the messages framework and the cookie backend, which was
already using HMAC, there is the possibility of a backwards incompatibility
if the SECRET_KEY is shorter than the default 50 bytes, but the low
likelihood and low impact meant compatibility code was not worth it.
All known instances where tokens/hashes were compared using simple string
equality, which could potentially open timing based attacks, have also been
fixed using a constant-time comparison function.
There are no known practical attacks against the existing implementations,
so these security improvements will not be backported.

Converted sessions tests from doctest to unittest.

Also made the FileSession backend consistent with other backends in one

Fixed #11967 : use a different technique to get `ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX` in admin JS.

We now store ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX on the window object and let JS files read it
from there. The old technique -- looking a <script> tags and trying to deduce
the prefix -- broke with libraries like TineMCE that dynamically add <script>
tags to the <head>.
This is potentially backwards-incompatible for folks who've overridden
`admin/base.html`; they'll need to add the proper <script> line to
their new `admin/base.html`. For that reason, this changeset shouldn't
be backported to 1.1.X.

#13068 is a regression caused by the new javascript inline forms in the
admin. The others were existing javascript bugs with prepopulated fields.
Since the solution depends on jQuery and would likely be very hard to
backport without it, it will not be backported to 1.1.X.

Tweaked a test to trigger the condition and verify the fix.
Finally, documented that limit_choices_to specified as a Q object has no effect
on the choices available for fields listed in raw_id_fields, and removed another
incorrect note that claimed limit_choices_to had no effect on inlines in the admin.

This is a BACKWARDS INCOMPATIBLE change, because it removes the flawed
'auto_adapt_to_methods' decorator, and replaces it with 'method_decorator'
which must be applied manually when necessary, as described in the 1.2
release notes.
For users of 1.1 and 1.0, this affects the decorators:
* login_required
* permission_required
* user_passes_test
For those following trunk, this also affects:
* csrf_protect
* anything created with decorator_from_middleware
If a decorator does not depend on the signature of the function it is
supposed to decorate (for example if it only does post-processing of the
result), it will not be affected.

Reduced CookieStorage.max_cookie_size to 75% of 4K to be nice to Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer, up to at least version 7, allows only 4K cookie data *per
domain*, rather than per cookie, so we ensure that stored messages leave
some room for other cookies.

Fixed problems associated with the `GeometryField` SRID cache: it is now keyed by the connection alias rather than the spatial backend name (e.g., `spatial_ref_sys` tables may have different entries, even if backend is the same), explicitly pass in connection alias to `SpatialRefSys` query to ensure correct entry is retrieved, and removed unused code from `GeometryField.get_distance`. Thanks, Josh Livni, for the bug report.

Fixed #12637 -- GeoDjango's `inspectdb` command is now a subclass of Django's, and works with all spatial backends (Oracle and SpatiaLite did work before). This changeset introduces new introspection modules for all of the spatial backends and adds hooks to the original `inspectdb.Command` class to enable reuse.

Fixed `LayerMapping` to work with PostGIS geography fields; removed `LayerMapping.geometry_column` and replaced with `LayerMapping.geometry_field` because getting the `geometry_columns` entry was completely unnecessary, and only the geometry field instance is needed; cleaned up and fleshed out the `geogapp` tests.

Fixed #4604 - Configurable message passing system, supporting anonymous users

This deprecates User.message_set in favour of a configurable messaging
system, with backends provided for cookie storage, session storage and
backward compatibility.
Many thanks to Tobias McNulty for the bulk of the work here, with
contributions from Chris Beaven (SmileyChris) and lots of code review from
Russell Keith-Magee, and input from many others. Also credit to the authors
of various messaging systems for Django whose ideas may have been pinched
:-)

Allow CsrfResponseMiddleware to be used if templates cannot be updated.

For the case where someone is using contrib views with custom templates that
they cannot update to use the template tag, it should be possible to use
CsrfResponseMiddleware. This requires that 'csrf_response_exempt' is not
used for the admin views.

There is stub code for backwards compatiblity with Django 1.1 imports.
The documentation has been updated, but has been left in
docs/contrib/csrf.txt for now, in order to avoid dead links to
documentation on the website.

Fixed #9977 - CsrfMiddleware gets template tag added, session dependency removed, and turned on by default.

This is a large change to CSRF protection for Django. It includes:
* removing the dependency on the session framework.
* deprecating CsrfResponseMiddleware, and replacing with a core template tag.
* turning on CSRF protection by default by adding CsrfViewMiddleware to
the default value of MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES.
* protecting all contrib apps (whatever is in settings.py)
using a decorator.
For existing users of the CSRF functionality, it should be a seamless update,
but please note that it includes DEPRECATION of features in Django 1.1,
and there are upgrade steps which are detailed in the docs.
Many thanks to 'Glenn' and 'bthomas', who did a lot of the thinking and work
on the patch, and to lots of other people including Simon Willison and
Russell Keith-Magee who refined the ideas.

As of this commit, the CSRF code is mainly in 'contrib'. The code will be

Fixed #10061 -- Added namespacing for named URLs - most importantly, for the admin site, where the absence of this facility was causing problems. Thanks to the many people who contributed to and helped review this patch.

This change is backwards incompatible for anyone that is using the named URLs
introduced in [9739]. Any usage of the old admin_XXX names need to be modified
to use the new namespaced format; in many cases this will be as simple as a
search & replace for "admin_" -> "admin:". See the docs for more details on
the new URL names, and the namespace resolution strategy.

Fixed GEOS & GDAL C function prototypes to explicitly use a subclass of `c_char_p` as the return type on routines that return strings. This prevents crashes on some 64-bit platforms, like FreeBSD. Thanks to wilsaj for discovering the problem. Refs #9747 .

Fixed #11302 -- Avoid unnesscary (and possibly unintentional) queries/results from generic inline formsets.

When an instance with no primary key value is passed in to a generic inline

Fixed #11113 : fixed a couple of issues that slipped through the cracks when comment moderation was added to `django.contrib.comments`.

The is a potentially backwards-incompatible change for users already relying on the internals of comment moderaration. To wit:
* The moderation system now listens to the new `comment_will_be_posted`/`comment_was_posted` signals instead of `pre/post_save`. This means that import request-based information is available to moderation as it should be.
* Some experimental code from `django.contrib.comments.moderation` has been removed. It was never intended to be merged into Django, and was completely untested and likely buggy.
