Justin Bronn a1fbc0dc36 Fixed #12637 -- GeoDjango's `inspectdb` command is now a subclass of Django's, and works with all spatial backends (Oracle and SpatiaLite did work before). This changeset introduces new introspection modules for all of the spatial backends and adds hooks to the original `inspectdb.Command` class to enable reuse.

Russell Keith-Magee e07560a88e Modified the way EMAIL_BACKEND is specified to make it consistent with the new "use the class name" policy for backends. 
This is a BACKWARDS-INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE for anyone using a manually
specified EMAIL_BACKEND setting. If you have manually specified
EMAIL_BACKEND, you will need to append ".EmailBackend" to your
existing EMAIL_BACKEND setting. See the django-dev mailing list for
details.

Gary Wilson Jr 5dd6bbd2cf Fixed #11615 -- Changed test runners to use an exit status code of 1 for any number of failed tests. The previous behavior of using an exit status code equal to the number of failed tests produced incorrect exit status codes when the number of test failures was 256 or greater. Jacob Kaplan-Moss 07ba0dbaf7 Fixed #10646: `cache.incr()` and `decr()` now fail consistantly under python-memcache and cmemcache. 
Though it looks like this commit has no tests that's not so: this is tested for in `regressiontests/cache/tests.py` around like 183; these tests currently fail if ran against cmemcache.

Luke Plant 25020ddb05 Fixed #4604 - Configurable message passing system, supporting anonymous users 
This deprecates User.message_set in favour of a configurable messaging
system, with backends provided for cookie storage, session storage and
backward compatibility.

Many thanks to Tobias McNulty for the bulk of the work here, with
contributions from Chris Beaven (SmileyChris) and lots of code review from
Russell Keith-Magee, and input from many others.  Also credit to the authors
of various messaging systems for Django whose ideas may have been pinched
:-)

Luke Plant 7230a995ce Moved contrib.csrf.* to core code. 
There is stub code for backwards compatiblity with Django 1.1 imports.

The documentation has been updated, but has been left in
docs/contrib/csrf.txt for now, in order to avoid dead links to
documentation on the website.

Luke Plant c6e8e5d9f0 Fixed non-standard introspection support in LazyObject. 
LazyObject called a public method ``get_all_members`` on wrapped objects in
order to allow introspection.  This could easily cause name clashes with
existing methods on wrapped objects, and so has been changed to use the
standard methods.  This could be slightly backwards-incompatible, in obscure
cases, if the undocumented LazyObject has been used externally.

Russell Keith-Magee 8d48eaa064 Fixed #10061 -- Added namespacing for named URLs - most importantly, for the admin site, where the absence of this facility was causing problems. Thanks to the many people who contributed to and helped review this patch. 
This change is backwards incompatible for anyone that is using the named URLs
introduced in [9739]. Any usage of the old admin_XXX names need to be modified
to use the new namespaced format; in many cases this will be as simple as a
search & replace for "admin_" -> "admin:". See the docs for more details on
the new URL names, and the namespace resolution strategy.

Jacob Kaplan-Moss 2b0903b2c4 Fixed #10404: ImageField height_field and width_field options no longer depend on putting the image field after the height/width fields as they did after r9766. 
This bug actually exposed a related handful of inconsistancies in the underlying file handling and wraping, so a few related changes are in here as well:

    * Dimensions are also now calculated the moment the image is assigned to the field instead of upon save.
    * The base `File` object now when possible delegates its closed attribute down to the os-level file it wrapps.
    * In-memory files' `close()` now is a no-op. Without this certain APIs that should be able to handle in-memory files were failing.
    * Accessing `FieldFile.closed` used to open the file. That's silly, and it doesn't any more.
    * Some over-eager error handling was squishing some errors that would normally be raised. One unit test was incorrectly depending on this behavior, so the test was removed.

Karen Tracey df7ffe616a Fixed #8900: Added errno=13 (permission denied) to the class of ignored OSErrors when attempting to delete the old file in file_move_safe. 
This error was seen on Windows with Pythons < 2.5.  In the case where the error was seen, the old file is auto-deleted on close anyway by the Windows-specific NamedTemporaryFile support.

No new test because the failure could be seen when running the file_uploads test with Python 2.3/2.4 on Windows.  With this fix file_uploads runs clean in that environment.

While in the neignborhood fixed up the docstrings to better match the reality of what the code does and what the function is named.

Malcolm Tredinnick a08267bf6a Removed some import-time dependencies on Django's settings. 
Now you can import the file storage stuff and still call settings.configure()
afterwards. There is still one import-time usage of settings in
django.contrib.comments, but that's unavoidable.

Malcolm Tredinnick 8f28a84a98 The database cache wasn't correctly handling expired keys. Fixed now. 
The cache tests have been failing for a long time with the db backend. This
change makes them pass again, so no test changes required here.

Karen Tracey 4bede45816 Remove some code in loaddata that bails out of searching for fixture files (only when verbosity > 1) as soon as attempting to open any potential fixture file fails. This code looks to have been mistakenly added in r9527; loaddata ought to proceed with attempting to locate other fixture files, regardless of verbosity setting, as it did before r9527.

Karen Tracey 5d3b222a59 Fixed #9212: Added code to check the xgettext version, and if it is lower than 0.15, undo an incorrect encoding to utf-8 done by xgettext. This bug was fixed in xgettext 0.15, but the most-easily-installed Windows gettext binaries are older (0.13.1), so we work around it.

Malcolm Tredinnick 195420259a Fixed #8403 -- Changed the use of fcntl.flock() to fcntl.lockf(). On some 
systems, this will ensure fnctl-based file locking is always used, which means
locking of NFS-mounted files should work.

 * Removed oldforms specific bits from model fields:
   * Removed `validator_list` and `core` arguments from constructors.
   * Removed the methods:
     * `get_manipulator_field_names`
     * `get_manipulator_field_objs`
     * `get_manipulator_fields`
     * `get_manipulator_new_data`
     * `prepare_field_objs_and_params`
     * `get_follow`
   * Renamed `flatten_data` method to `value_to_string` for better alignment with its use by the serialization framework, which was the only remaining code using `flatten_data`.
 * Removed oldforms methods from `django.db.models.Options` class: `get_followed_related_objects`, `get_data_holders`, `get_follow`, and `has_field_type`.
 * Removed oldforms-admin specific options from `django.db.models.fields.related` classes: `num_in_admin`, `min_num_in_admin`, `max_num_in_admin`, `num_extra_on_change`, and `edit_inline`.
 * Serialization framework
   * `Serializer.get_string_value` now calls the model fields' renamed `value_to_string` methods.
   * Removed a special-casing of `models.DateTimeField` in `core.serializers.base.Serializer.get_string_value` that's handled by `django.db.models.fields.DateTimeField.value_to_string`.
 * Removed `django.core.validators`:
   * Moved `ValidationError` exception to `django.core.exceptions`.
   * For the couple places that were using validators, brought over the necessary code to maintain the same functionality.
 * Introduced a SlugField form field for validation and to compliment the SlugField model field (refs #8040).
 * Removed an oldforms-style model creation hack (refs #2160).

Malcolm Tredinnick 943c28a4c6 Fixed #7042 -- The management validation command nows alerts users to the 
presence (and incorrectness) of unique=True on ManyToManyFields. This has never
worked and generates invalid SQL. Now it's raised as an explicit error during
validation. Thanks to clamothe for the patch.

Still needs a docs change to make this clear, but that goes to the docs
refactor branch.

Malcolm Tredinnick c92b424e57 Fixed #8239 -- Google App Engine has a restricted "imp" module, which doesn't 
include one of the methods we use when constructing management help commands.
So postpone the resolving of the method name until when we actually need it
