Anssi Kääriäinen 1cd6e04cd4 Fixed #18676 -- Allow fast-path deletion of objects 
Objects can be fast-path deleted if there are no signals, and there are
no further cascades. If fast-path is taken, the objects do not need to
be loaded into memory before deletion.

Ramiro Morales f51eab796d Fixed #18072 -- Made more admin links use reverse() instead of hard-coded relative URLs. 
Thanks kmike for the report and initial patch for the changelist->edit
object view link URL.

Other affected links include the delete object one and object history
one (in this case the change had been implemented in commit 5a9e127, this
commit adds admin-quoting of the object PK in a way similar to a222d6e.)

Claude Paroz 6eda8d784a Enlarged exception catching when testing for GDAL presence 
Other import errors than ImportError can happen during import of
GDAL files (e.g. OGRException). Some further auditing may be needed
if we want to restrict the catched exceptions at a later stage.

Malcolm Tredinnick c4aa26a983 Internal refactoring; moving LOOKUP_SEP up one level. 
In an ideal world, nothing except django.db.models.query should have to
import stuff from django.models.sql.*. A few things were needing to get
hold of sql.constants.LOOKUP_SEP, so this commit moves it up to
django.db.models.constants.LOOKUP_SEP.

There are still a couple of places (admin) poking into sql.* to get
QUERY_TERMS, which is unfortunate, but a slightly different issue and
harder to adjust.

Claude Paroz d7853c55ed Removed warning check in test_load_overlong_key 
Some backends issue a warning here, others not. This is not the primary
goal of the test, so the assertion about the warning has been removed.

Travis Swicegood ccd1bb0d81 Remove Admin's swallowing of AttributeError (#16655, #18593, #18747) 
During the new-admin changes, catching of AttributeError was added to
the admin.  This patch removes that as it's no longer possible to add a
value to a ModelAdmin that is not available.  Adding an attribute that
can not be called causes an ImproperlyConfigured exception to be raised.

Ramiro Morales 4c934f3921 Made createsuperuser more robust when getting current OS username. 
Under some versions of OS X, failure in getting the default system
locale during the syncdb operation of the auth app were causing hard to
diagnose problems afterwards.

No solution based on getpreferredencoding() was chosen because it has
its own problems with certain combinations of Python and OS X versions
(e.g. http://bugs.python.org/issue6202).

* Renamed smart_unicode to smart_text (but kept the old name under

* Renamed smart_str to smart_bytes.
* Re-introduced smart_str as an alias for smart_text under Python 3
  and smart_bytes under Python 2 (which is backwards compatible).
  Thus smart_str always returns a str objects.
* Used the new smart_str in a few places where both Python 2 and 3
  want a str.

Florian Apolloner 52a9e15794 Fixed a regression in the user admin page introduced in a92e7f37c4. 
a92e7f37c4 switched most of the internal stuff
to format_html. Using format_html in the `render` method of
`ReadOnlyPasswordHashWidget` caused it to generate `SafeString` instances.
Later these safe strings where returned from `BoundField.__unicode__` which
caused force_unicode to loose the "safe" information. This commit fixes that by
ensuring that the render method returns `SafeUnicode` instead of `SafeString`.

In the discussion here: https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/17138
it was decided that using the caption for this previously
non-visible part of the table element was not semantic, so in this
patch is moves that summary to the `title` attribute of the `a`
tag which when overed over, on most browsers, will show the text.

Paul McMillan 2ca9801956 Fixed #17810. Catch session key errors. 
Catches memcached session key errors related to overly long session keys.
This is a long-standing bug, but severity was exacerbated by the addition
of cookie-backed session storage, which generates long session values. If
an installation switched from cookie-backed session store to memcached,
users would not be able to log in because of the server error from overly
long memcached keys.

Paul McMillan 14df122f86 Fixed #17837. Improved markdown safety. 
Markdown enable_attributes is now False when safe_mode is enabled. Documented
the markdown "safe" argument. Added warnings when the safe argument is
passed to versions of markdown which cannot be made safe. Deprecated

Paul McMillan 413e37481d Fixes #17777 and makes tests run again. 
Adds a salted MD5 hasher for backwards compatibility.

Ramiro Morales ae640e5ea0 Fixed #17796 -- Rolled back [17588] because the fix for the original relatively 
corner case (boolean fields under MySQL spatial backend) had a wider scope with
potentially unintended consequences affecting the main MySQL backend and the
required changes wouldn't be appropiate at this point of the 1.4 development

Ramiro Morales 5a4e63e62a Removed code duplicated in SQLite3 and SpatiaLite GeoDjango DB backends. 
Moved it to an auxiliary method in the SQLite3 backend cursor class.
Did this to reduce the chances of us forgetting to port changes in DB
connection setup process from the former to the latter one like it
happened e.g. in r17205.

Ramiro Morales 752a43e245 Reverted [17378] until a public API is available for application labels. 
This will allow to solve the i18n of such labels in a more holistic way
without the need to introduce temporary, undocumented mechanisms to
translate them.

Julien Phalip cb99b598c1 Fixed #11410 -- Moved the "Groups" field to the "Permissions" module in the `auth.User` admin form and modified the help texts for the `user_permissions` and `groups` model fields to reflect that change. Luke Plant 1c16907199 Added a password reset link to default admin login page if a password reset URL is available. 
You no longer have to override the admin login page just to get that link to
appear!

Also provided much better docs for how to plug in the provided password
reset mechanism with minimum effort.

Ramiro Morales 554f0601b5 Stopped unconditionally reversing admin model add/change URLs. 
Starting with [16857] this could cause HTTP 500 errors when
`ModelAdmin.get_urls()` has been customized to the point it doesn't
provide these standard URLs.

Fixes #17333. Refs #15294.
